Dr. Jacob recently completed a mission trip to Matagalpa, Nicaragua with New Orleans Medical Mission Services (NOMMS). Dr Jacob, along with the rest of the plastics team and the ENT team, completed 27 surgeries. One highlight was the case of Jorge Medina Lanzas. Mr Lanzas came to the hospital with restricted breathing and a "saddle nose" and a boxing injury. Dr. Jacob decided to perform 3 procedures to give Jorge relief. First he harvested cartilage from Jorge's ear. Then he repaired the interior and exterior of Jorge's nose so he'd leave with better breathing and a straighter nose.
