New Orleans Medical Mission Services annual fundraiser

New Orleans Medical Mission Services holds an annual fundraiser to raise money for its various mission services. This year’s gala fundraiser, “Mission Possible,” will be Friday, June 20, at Generations Hall, 310 Andrew Higgins Drive, New Orleans. The gala will feature music, food, drinks and a silent auction. A patron party begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by general admission at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the party are $250 and this includes tickets for two people. Individual tickets for general admission are $70. For more information about the gala, contact Edna Centola at fhwsec1313@aol.com.

NOMMS consists of over 500 volunteers. This includes more than 25 doctors and 50 nurses who volunteer their time to take one week medical mission trips to countries such as Nicaragua and Ecuadore. The group takes three trips a year.

In addition to the medical mission trips, NOMMS maintains a warehouse accumulating medical supplies that are distributed to those in need in the United States and abroad. The group has donated 32,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank and medical supplies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the Iowa Flood Recovery, and Haiti Earthquake Relief. Additionally, there are ongoing shipments of supplies and equipment to many of the underdeveloped countries of Latin America.

NOMMS was founded in 2001. Dr. Jacob is one of the founders and is its Chairman of the Board and President. Please visit our website to get a better understanding of the scope of NOMMS. Perhaps you will feel called to join us as a volunteer and support our efforts in a variety of ways. Our website is NOMMS.org.
